PERSONALITY
Rune might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but what he lacks in quick wit he makes up for with honesty and fox-like curiosity. He's always eager to meet new people and always tries to mean well; though his enthusiasm can be… a little much. He sometimes misses the moment when he's being too loud or overly playful but his heart is always in the right place. With a father who lived far from the village and a brother who left to join him while Rune was still small, affection was rare. Now he overcompensates; once he decides you're special to him, you'll feel it in every gesture; every flick of his tail or twitch of his ears. He clings to closeness, quietly guarding against the fear that one day you might leave too. His friendliness is sometimes mistaken for flirting, especially when his mouth runs ahead of his thoughts but his intentions are always genuine.Rune is hopeless at finding his way and while trouble doesn't seek him out, it often finds him; usually because something he said was taken the wrong way. Under his sunshine personality is a deep seated fear of abandonment. Even so, he's quick to throw himself into doing the right thing, guided by curiosity and a stubbornly kind heart.

Childhood — Rune was born into a small wandering Keeper of the Moon clan that had gradually migrated from the deep northern Shroud into areas closer to Gridania. Like some Keeper clans before them they clashed with Gridanian over territory and hunting rights. The clan believed the forest belonged to them alone and saw Gridania's presence as an intrusion. Rune was raised inside that bitterness long before he ever understood it. From birth Rune stood out even among his own people. His ears were sharper and more tufted, his tail longer; unmistakably fox-like. The clan whispered that the forest spirits had touched him. Some claimed he bore the blessing of the Trickster Spirits, mischievous guardians tied to foxes and wandering souls. Others insisted that such a blessing always demanded a price. Rune never knew which version to believe, only that the spirits had made him different. His father, like many Keeper males, did not live with the clan and visited not very often. One brief visit was only long enough to claim Rune's older brother for the hunters. Not long after, Rune's mother was killed in a violent dispute with outsiders near the border. Rune's father never returned again once word got to him about her death. To the clan, this was routine life. To Rune, it was abandonment.Without parents to defend him, Rune became the clan's misfit; the fox-blessed child whose presence elders treated with superstition instead of care. His slight frame made him an easy target. Hunters scoffed that his "spirit touched body" was too frail to ever join them. The women murmured that his fox-like features were a sign of misfortune. The elders forbade him from training with the other children, claiming he would distract them or bring unwanted attention from the spirits. Among the clan, survival meant contribution. Rune, they decided was not worth the investment.During storms, he was often left outside, huddling beneath dripping boughs while the clan sheltered without him. Eventually he found an old half collapsed hunter's hut, abandoned, leaking and forgotten and claimed it as his own. It was cold and lonely but at least the spirits didn't turn him away. On rare sunny days, Rune braided flower crowns, weaving them with a child's hope that beauty might earn him acceptance. When he offered his first crown to the elders - they crushed it underfoot.
Teens — Rune grew into a quiet, hesitant teenager caught between a clan that rejected him and a city he had been raised to fear. Whenever he could slip away he wandered toward Gridania. The bustle fascinated him, people who spoke without venom, merchants who didn't care about his tail and places where his strange features drew curiosity instead of scorn. He carried bundles for merchants, helped gardeners at the Botanists’ Guild and fetched tools for anyone who would give him a chance. Mother Miounne, ever gentle, noticed him hovering near the Canopy. She gave him small errands, simple tasks that let Rune feel useful without fear of failure, Her kindness became a lifeline.Seeking strength, Rune took up the lance. Any adventurer or guard willing to show him the basics became his teacher however begrudgingly. Though timid he grew quicker and steadier, guided by an instinctive agility the clan had blamed on his "fox spirits." Rune began to wonder if the blessing was not a curse at all. His first true test came when Mother Miounne entrusted him with investigating disturbances in the Shroud. Rune thought it was finally his moment to prove himself but instead he crossed paths with a wandering Miqo'te adventurer who shifted every certainty he had grown up with. From then on, Rune saved every gil he earned. Coins from odd jobs, tips from merchants and even stray gil dropped among roots. He hid his small treasure in the abandoned hut that had once been his only shelter. Soon he travelled to Limsa Lominsa. Compared to the hush of the Shroud, Limsa was chaos incarnate with shouting sailors, clanging metal all drowned out by the soaring waves around it. Rune collected small trinkets from the docks: bottle caps, bits of ribbon, oddly shaped stones. Others saw trash but Rune saw something else - proof that he was somewhere new, free from the clan's expectations. His fox-like curiosity often landed him in trouble. He asked too many questions, got underfoot, and wandered into places he didn't belong. However every so often, when danger brushed his path he felt a strange tug in his chest, as if the spirits that had marked him still nudged him away from harm.
Adulthood — Limsa taught Rune how overwhelming the world could be and how quickly he could adapt when he had no one telling him he was worthless. He learned to move with the tide of crowded streets, slipping between sailors with ease. His nimble hands made him good at repairing nets and polishing trinkets. These odd jobs earned him some gil and helped him find a sense of purpose. His growing collection of bottle caps, feathers, ribbons, and little treasures became a living map of his journey - each one tied to a story, a kindness or a moment of laughter. Eventually time came where he became restless and wanted to find new experiences. In Ul’dah he learned the rhythm of merchants, the flow of gil, and the dance of bartering. Delivery jobs had him darting through the city with the fox-like swiftness his clan once mocked. From there he drifted north to Ishgard, newly opened and desperate for helping hands. Coerthas’ cold almost froze him but Rune found work and warmth in the city's rebuilding efforts. He delivered materials and brightened the tired workers’ days with gentle optimism. But it was an orphanage in the Brume that changed him most. The children adored his tail - fascinated by it and calling him "Mister Fox." They braided flowers into it and decorated it with ribbons. Rune told them stories of warm seas and deserts and in return they gave him something he had never known: Belonging without condition. When Rune at last returned to the Twelveswood, he was no longer the fragile boy exiled to an abandoned hut. He was a man shaped by the world beyond the clan -strengthened by it, loved by it. And through it all, subtle things still happened around him; improbable luck, gentle nudges of intuition, narrow escapes. Whether it was coincidence or the soft guidance of the Trickster Spirits that had marked him at birth, Rune carried their blessing proudly. From that journey, he created Soda Pop: a place where no one would be turned away. A place of warmth and chosen family. A place for anyone who ever needed simply to exist. A place Rune wished he'd had when he was a child… and one the spirits would watch over with him.
Rune was touched by a fox spirit at birth, giving him his ears and tail. Sometimes it nudges him away from trouble, makes animals curious or whispers to him in dreams - though he mostly just pretends it's coincidence.
Rune loves to dance, it is something that he will do whenever he is given the chance. If there’s a dance he can learn from someone then he won't stop until he can learn it, dancing is his favourite way to pass the time.
He learnt sign language so that he could communicate with Emrys Ardell, a mute Miqo'te that he became friends with. It was Emrys that taught him how to sign so that they could understand one another better. This was something Rune put his whole heart into learning.
Rune has a sweet tooth, he loves things such as chocolate and berries. When he goes out to the club he always tries to find the most tooth rotting drinks that he can find; usually the sweeter the better. Rune can't handle strong alcoholic drinks that well and enjoys the sweeter ones.
Beneath his cheer, Rune carries a quiet fear of being left behind. Those who notice might see it in the way his eyes linger when someone leaves a room or how quickly he volunteers to help as if earning his place. This can make him fiercely loyal but also vulnerable to those who would take advantage of it.
Rune's ears can sometimes give-away what he is feeling or doing, if he is trying to be nosy to something happening his ears will twitch. In the same regards when he gets scared or sad he will pull his ears forward.
Rune is terrified of being stuck in the rain. He has a strong fear of storms and rain tends to bring back bad memories of his childhood where he was left outside alone and cold during storms. If he does get caught outside during on, his body will seize up and he will start to shut down as he goes into panic.
A habit from his childhood, Rune still weaves flower crowns when he has the time and materials. He offers them freely as tokens of friendship or affection and the act of making one is often his way of calming himself when stress or sadness creeps in.
Rune owns and manages Soda Pop; an LGBTQ+ venue, a place where everyone is welcome to come feel safe and express themselves. He wanted to make a safe space where noone needs to feel judged and were able to love who they wanted and feel safe.
Rune thrives on closeness and rarely passes up an opportunity for a hug or leaning in just a little too far into someone’s personal space. Those who respond warmly often find him coming back again and again; sometimes out of genuine joy, sometimes because he’s quietly testing if they’ll still be there tomorrow.
